for a last day of work, yesterday was great. perhaps it's the best "last day of work" i've ever had? definitely maybe.
i mean, it's not technically my last day, because i'm not leaving the company. but it was my last day as far as the people in that office were concerned, since i won't be working with them anymore.
it's a good feeling to know that i'll be missed. all day long, people stopped by my desk (which wasn't hard to do, since it was on a main walkway) to wish me luck, give me hugs (real hugs, not those half-ass pseudo-hugs that i hate!), and all that good stuff. some of us even shed a few tears...
they didn't say anything about how many calls i took or didn't take, because nobody really cared. i packed up my desk, saved the emails i wanted to save, and did as little work as possible.
one guy came in "to make some photocopies," although he wasn't scheduled to work yesterday... but he made sure to find me before he left. uhh-huh.
it was just a nice day. the last call i took as a "rez ctr" (reservations center) agent was from a father booking a flight for his son going into melbourne, australia in february. since the itinerary had an overnight stay in nadi, fiji and they're planning a week stopover in nadi on the way back from australia, the guy had a lot of questions about fiji in general. i explained everything i knew and then ended up calling the airline, air pacific, to ask a few questions for the guy. it was a great call to have as my last call...
so yes, this is a good and posiive thing for me... i'm just trying to savor every last moment i have with the people i've gotten to know during my time in new england-- that's a lot of people... it's amazing the connections we make, isn't it?
