no destination

we set off in the afternoon
after lounging and reminiscing,
headed for who-knows-where--

we ended up in maine.

sleepy and relaxed,
we found ourselves in kennebunkport
on my bench,
just after sunset.

after warming up to the ocean waves
we needed shelter--
and sustenance.

we meandered to old orchard beach
(wining and dining and smiling and laughing
and sharing and learning and
relaxing).

i found motivation deep inside
(somewhere)
to watch the sunrise
half a block away from our hotel room

on the ocean--
so beautiful--
breathtaking--
bright,
with friendly mainers happening by
periodically
smiling curiously at
this happy woman on the beach.

we put off returning to reality
with a sticky yummy breakfast
and traffic battles at crowded outlet malls in kittery...

and then home,
exhausted,
refreshed...

thank you.
